My name is Julie Ann Reynolds and I am a fully qualified traditional acupuncturist  working from a quiet and relaxing clinic in Bacton, Suffolk.

Julie Ann Reynolds

I graduated from the College of Traditional Acupuncture (CTA) in 2004 with a BA Hons in Acupuncture. My training was extensive and covered all aspects of Chinese medical and acupuncture theory, with a focus on the five element approach.  This means that I will consider your main health problems as well as taking into account your general health and wellbeing.

I went on to York University and completed an MSc with distinction in Health Services Research. For my thesis, I carried out a pilot trial of acupuncture for IBS. This was the first randomised trial of five element acupuncture, and I found a highly significant difference between the acupuncture group, and those under usual GP care. The study was published in Acupuncture in Medicine (part of the BMJ group).

After this, I went back to my old college to teach on the acupuncture programme, focusing on research but also teaching general acupuncture theory. I loved teaching, but over the years at CTA, I saw how hard it was for mature students to complete the course with their sanity and lives intact! My colleague and I saw a gap for training that was more flexible, incorporating e-learning, meaning that people with busy lives – work, family and so on – could study more easily around those commitments. After all, nobody studies acupuncture straight from school! So in 2011, we set up The Acupuncture Academy,  in Leamington Spa, where I am Joint Principal and Research and Clinical course leader.  Here we help many students from all over the country who wanted a career change to achieve an honours degree level qualification and set up their own acupuncture practice.

I am a member of the British Acupuncture Council and adhere to the Council’s Codes of Safe Practice and Professional conduct. British Acupuncture Council members are also registered with the Professional Standards Authority which is a government body set up to regulate health and social care providers, and is accountable to Parliament.

My clinic is licensed by Mid Suffolk District Council and I hold full medical malpractice and public/products liability insurance cover.
